studio policies

Thanks for taking a second to familiarize yourself with our studio’s policies! These serve as general guidelines and aren’t meant to come across as imposing or attacking. This is just a simple way to outline our basic policies. As always, we’d love to clear up any questions you may have!

Booking

A 50% deposit is required to book your first session. The deposit will be applied to your session or refunded if you cancel more than 48 hours before your session time. If your deposit is not received within 48 hours of your session time, your time may be forfeited. If you cancel within 48 hours of the session, you may not be given a refund to your booked time. Discretion based on unique circumstances permit refunds for the deposit(s). While it’s rare, Studio 222 Recording reserves the right to cancel or reschedule time in event of a calendar mishap. However, if Studio 222 Recording cancels the session, the time cancelled or rescheduled will be refunded to the customer.

Scheduling
We use Google Calendar to make session appointments. You can confirm your time slot within the calendar event and conveniently copy it into your electronic calendar. You may also use out online booking feature by going to: www.studio222recording.com/online-booking
Payment

Payment is required upon completion of each session. Payment may be made by cash, QuickBooks Online Invoicing, VISA or MasterCard, PayPal, Venmo, and CashApp. Payment is also due before the final product (mix, master, edits, etc.) is distributed to the client. If you are eligible for one of our discount offers, the discount will be detailed on your invoice/receipt.

Final Delivery (Masters)

Your account must be paid in full prior to receiving your master. Masters are generally delivered over Email, Google Drive, or DropBox. If you wish a different source of delivery of your final products, please let us know and we’ll try to accommodate!

Studio Time

The clock begins when the engineer starts working with you setting up equipment, getting levels, debugging instrument problems (such as hum, buzz, etc.). When you indicate you are finished and the equipment is no longer in use the clock stops. (If a master is being burned, the clock continues to run until the master is finished.) Clean up is on us.

Starting Time

When you schedule time, it is expected you will arrive on time and we adjust our work schedule accordingly. It should be understood that we will bill you from the beginning of your scheduled time regardless of what time you arrive. Studio time is billed in 1/2-hour increments.

Ending Time

We do our best to be flexible. Often times, another session may be scheduled following yours. In most cases, we attempt to allow at least 1/2 hour leeway between sessions. If you should require a little more time, we will try to continue and ask the next scheduled appointment if they can wait. However, if this is not acceptable to them, we ask that you be considerate and stop your session and schedule another session. It is always a good idea to estimate the amount of time you will need and schedule accordingly.

Weekend Scheduling

We offer weekend scheduling occasionally (even though our hours of operation may say otherwise). Typically, regular rates apply and there’s not typically a surcharge.

Downloading of Instrumentals/Beats (from YouTube, Soundcloud, etc.)
We reserve the right to deny/decline downloading from YouTube, Soundcloud, or any other site. This infringes on the intellectual copyright of the creators. In addition, it is illegal and against terms of service on these apps unless allowed by the uploading creators. Also, the sites used to rip from these sites see high amounts of malware and viruses potentially harming computers and/or stealing personal information. Finally, using a free instrumental on any site is subject to copyright infringement on streaming platforms, YouTube, and other services. Typically, these services will prevent you from uploading your song if it contains similar content to other songs already on the market. If they do allow you to upload, you will typically not be able to monetize your song due to copyright infringement (i.e. YouTube demonetization).
Damages

Any equipment damaged or broken by clientele will be repaired/replaced at cost and billed to the client accordingly, especially in negligent circumstances. Each situation will be handled independently.

Food and Beverage

You may bring your own food and beverages and store them in the refrigerator or you may order food to be delivered. Food and drink may be brought into the studio but must be kept away from equipment racks, console and any other studio equipment. We have been known to give out cookies. 😉

No Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in the studio.

Restricted Recordings

We respect the intellectual property rights of all artists. We reserve the right to cancel your session if we believe you are intentionally infringing on the copyrighted material of others. While this is VERY rare and unlikely, we must uphold the integrity of music production. You may not necessarily receive a refund for your time in this circumstance.

Illicit drugs are strictly prohibited

We reserve the right to deny access to our premises, services, and our equipment to those clearly under the influence of illicit drugs.
